HAT-TRICK by Alan Bundy in the opening 15 minutes of their match with Wessex 3 opponents Ordnance Survey ensured Font's passage into the last 16 of the cup.

This opening salvo put the visitors into the comfort zone for most of the match, but in the end Mottisfont were glad to hear the final whistle.

After a dreadful start the home side improved after the interval, and Mottisfont collected injuries, which caused them some concern. However, a superbly struck fourth goal by Nigel Cutler five minutes from time erased their fears.

The visitors got off to a dream start with a goal after two minutes. A Colin Morris throw-in was back-headed by Michael Jackson into the path of Alan Bundy, who had the easiest of chances.

More slack play in the Survey defence allowed Bundy another simple chance, which he gratefully accepted, five minutes later.

He then piled more misery on the hosts by completing his hat-trick.

For the last half hour of the game, possession became more even. Survey went close, but found Paul Fielder in commanding form in his goal area.

Font, although not as vibrant as at the start, still gave the Survey defence plenty to do with Morris almost adding to their lead with a fierce volley.

Survey had little option but to attack, and their policy paid dividends when they reduced the arrears 15 minutes into the second half.

Font were not performing particularly well at this stage, but Fielder's confident handling kept the Survey threat down to a minimum.

Nigel Cutler kept Font's out-of-touch midfield ticking over, and Bundy was a shade too high with a lob from the midfielders through ball.

Jackson also went close with a strong header before Cutler struck the post direct from his corner kick.

Central defender Paul Cardy went off injured and when Mottisfont had used their three subs, Andy Fryer picked up a rib injury that left him virtually a passenger.

Survey were piling on the pressure, and Font were struggling. To add to their problems, keeper Fielder was also injured and the possibility of the hosts snatching another two goals looked ominous.

However, Cutler, who was prominent throughout the match, put the result beyond doubt with a scorching 25-yard drive.

This week Lyndhurst provide the Font's opposition in a Hampshire League 2004 game at Bengers Lane (3:00pm).
