Romsey WASPS' Under-12s did well to take the Plate in their recent tournament at the Trojans ground in Eastleigh.

In the first match against Eastleigh, scrum-half Sergei Bressloff opened the scoring with a decisive break. After further tries by Patrick Haste and Conrad Charlton, Eddie Duckworth made an inspirational chip kick and collected the ball to score the final try.

Against Havant Dan Thomson, playing at hooker in the first half and inside centre in the second, stood out with some creative running. Romsey were unlucky to lose by a single try.

The next match was against eventual tournament winners Trojans. Despite brave tackling by Jack Finch and William Tsang, it was eventually settled by a disputed try in favour of Trojans.

Romsey qualified for the Plate final, where they met New Milton. Romsey dominated with some surging runs from Jacob Pockney. Excellent wing play by Will Sims set up Patrick Haste for a powerful run, scoring the only try of the match.

In the second half brave running by Jonathan Harper and high energy mauling by pocket dynamo and man-of-the-day Conor Bailey secured the win. For more Wasps reports turn to page 21.
