AN eight-year-old boy was last night still fighting for his life in hospital after being rescued from the River Itchen in Southampton.
He was one of twin brothers pulled out of the water near Northam Bridge, next to the former Meridian television studios.
The other is making a good recovery and has been released from intensive care into a children's ward at Southampton General Hospital.
One of the youngsters fell into the river while they were playing together on their bicycles and the other tried to rescue him. It is not known which one is still seriously ill.
Last night their parents were keeping up their vigil at the bedside of their sick son.
