WELSH rugby superstar Gavin Henson believes Clive Woodward is a "refreshing change" for Saints and will provide a "professional environment."
In his new book Gavin Henson, My Grand Slam Year, which goes on sale on Monday, Henson criticises Woodward's team selections and coaching methods during this summer's failed British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.
Henson admits he was left "bewildered" by Woodward's coaching sessions.
"I was shocked to see how little coaching he (Woodward) does," he says. "He leaves that to others.
"At every coaching session he would simply stand on the sidelines, as though he wasn't really involved."
But the 23-year-old, who kicked the winning goal to defeat England in last season's Six Nations tournament, does express some admiration for Woodward and wishes him luck at St Mary's.
"It's going to be very interesting to see how he gets on in football at Southampton," writes Henson.
