WORK on a new container port at Felixstowe in Suffolk is expected to start within six months after the government gave the £240m plan the go-ahead yesterday.
The decision means that of four proposals for container ports in the south-east only the plans of Southampton docks owners ABP at Dibden Bay were turned down.
Rival plans at London Gateway and Bathside Bay in Suffolk have received "minded to approve" assent from the government.
