University researchers have discovered a way to stop flu spreading which could help control an outbreak of deadly bird flu.
Their study has shown the influenza virus could be virtually eradicated after six hours on a copper surface.
Now the professors are recommending that copper is used for door handles, surfaces and sinks in hospitals to help prevent the spread of infection.
