1.KING KONG (12a): Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic is overlong but is still a hugely entertaining, big budget spectacular with truly extraordinary special effects.

2 WALLACE & GROMIT: The curse of the were rabbit(U) This latest beautifully crafted offering is undoubtedly Aardman Animations's best work to date. As Wallace might say, it's "cracking" stuff.

3. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN(15): Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick take on the roles they originated on Broadway. The Producers is every bit as entertaining as the stage musical.

4 . THE CHRONICLES OF NANIA; THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE (PG) This version glistens with state-of-the-art special effects and spectacular action sequences, but this reliance on technical wizardry also proves to be the film's downfall.

5. MUNICH (15) A heart-rending and tense account of the aftermath of the 1972 Olympics, at which 11 Israeli athletes were kidnapped and murdered. Eric Bana gives a brooding performance as a Mossad agent.

6. JARHEAD (15) Based on Anthony Swofford's memoirs as a Marine during the Gulf War, Jarhead is a harrowing account of a conflict hidden from the world.

7. JUST LIKE HEAVEN (PG) A sweet yet slight fantasy fluffy romantic comedy combining elements of Ghost and Wings Of Desire.

8. A COCK AND BULL STORY(15) Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon and a host of well-known faces star in this post-modern adaptation of The Life And Opinions Of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman.

9. FUN WITH DICK AND JANE (12A) Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni star in this disappointing remake of the 1977 comedy, which originally paired George Segal and Jane Fonda.

10. RUMOUR HAS IT(PG) Jennifer Aniston plays a woman who learns that her dysfunctional family might have been the inspiration for the film The Graduate.
