TWO-GOAL hero Ricardo Fuller was a reluctant interviewee after his first-ever strikes in front of the St Mary's faithful.

Fuller initially told a Saints press officer after the 3-2 win against Cardiff: "I have nothing to say except that I have everything to play for.

He was then persuaded to talk to the club's television station by coach Glynn Snodin.

Fuller then intrigued onlookers by saying: "It proves yet again that the big man upstairs is not sleeping."

He also told Saints TV: "I've never had justice here."

Next it was the turn of the written press.

But after a freelance sports reporter asked him what he meant by not having "had justice here", Fuller reacted angrily.

"Can we just get on with what we have to talk about because I have to go," he replied, before storming off to collect his man of the match champagne.

That completed the shortest post-match interview from a man of the match that any of those present had ever seen.

In fairness, Fuller had said all he wanted to say to Saints TV and his surly attitude should not detract from his wonderful second half performance that sent fans home with a smile on their face.

The 26-year-old former Pompey striker helped win over the Saints supporters with his two second half goals against Cardiff.

After failing to score in 866 minutes of first team action at St Mary's in 2005/06, Fuller promptly netted twice in five minutes.

On his first start for the club since November - his last start at St Mary's was against Stoke the previous month - the 26-year-old Jamaican international ended the hero.

Who would have predicted that when he was sent out to Ipswich on loan in February, with Saints boss George Burley having failed to start him in a single game since his arrival just before Christmas.

"I've never had justice here so I had nothing to lose," Fuller told Saints TV.

"I've endured low confidence and have taken a lot of stick but I'm trying to get fitter and have done what I've had to do.

"I've worked hard in training and I think I did well.

"I'm trying to believe in myself, and don't really have much else to say except I've got everything to play for.

"If I continue to think like that and work hard I'll give more performances like I did against Cardiff."

Fuller, whose previous three goals for Saints were all away from home, with the last one at Millwall on October 22, added: "I took the goals as well as I can.

"I tried to use my brain to get round the defender for the first one.

"I outsmarted him and hit the target, which is what Joe Royle got me to do a lot in training at Ipswich."

Fuller is frustrated that the end of the season is less than a month away.

He added: "It's a shame that there are only five games to go but I've got to do what I've got to do and help this team stay up.

"Whatever happens happens but my job is to blend in with the team, create and score goals as much as possible and play as much as I can - because the more I play, the better I get."

Fuller enjoyed playing alongside his latest strike partner, Grzegorz Rasiak.

He added: "He's comfortable with the ball at his feet and I'm the same.

"I don't kick balls in the air, I like to play one twos off the striker and he's fine for that and he's good in the air as well.

"It's a good chance for us to play together and show what we can do."
