A CAR ferry service has resumed at Southampton's Royal Pier three weeks after a boat crashed into the dock injuring eight people.
The Red Funnel operated ferry Red Falcon returned to its usual berth at terminal one, dock gate seven, yesterday morning.
The ferry crashed as it docked on March 10 after crossing from East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. It was carrying 130 passengers and had 14 crew on board.
The linkspan bridge was badly damaged and underwent around the clock repairs.
Red Funnel was keen to ensure normal car ferry operations resumed in time for Easter, one of its busiest times of the year. The Red Falcon, which also underwent repairs, returned to service on Thursday.
Since the accident the ferry service had been running from a temporary berth in Southampton's eastern docks. A hourly three-ship vehicle service is due to start from the middle of next week.
