LEADER Keith House led Eastleigh's Liberal Democrats to one of their biggest triumphs as they picked off two Tory scalps to gain a record number of council chamber seats.
The state of the parties now stands at 34 Liberal Democrats, seven Conservatives and three Labour.
It was at precisely 11.20pm that the yellow bandwagon started to roll. Councillor House was first past the winning post as his result was flashed from the Hedge End count to the returning officer Richard Ward at Eastleigh's Fleming Park Leisure Centre.
He stormed home with a comfortable 370 majority in Hedge End Wildern and it set the scene for a night of celebrations for the Liberal Democrat faithful.
