A GENTEEL May Day tradition was resurrected in Whit-church over the Bank Holiday weekend when adventurous residents took up a rhythmic ribbon habit.
The town's Millen-nium Meadow played centre stage to a pole, some quick-footed dancers and a colourful rainbow of entwined ribbons.
Graham Burgess, a member of the organising team, said: "The maypole dance is symbolic of the community itself because it has an existing structure that doesn't work without everyone doing their bit."
