THE county's youth are being asked to go to the polls - less than two weeks after the local elections.

This time, young people aged between 11 and 25 are being asked to cast their vote in the Hampshire Youth Council elections on Tuesday, May 16, at the Youth Council's annual meeting at Winchester Great Hall at 7pm.

There are five officer posts up for election.

Candidates have been signing up to take part in the poll for the past two weeks at schools and colleges across the county but there is still time to get involved.

Anyone aged between 11 and 25 is eligible to stand.

In addition to the officer election, young people are also invited to be one of the 22 youth councillors in the county.

Councillor Felicity Hindson Hampshire County Council's executive member for children's services said: "This is an exciting opportunity for young people interested in issues which affect them to really make a difference.

Anyone interested in standing should contact Lynne Meechan on 023 8068 4939.
