Eastleigh-based Formula 3 driver Shane Kelly and his SK Racing team maintained their 100 per cent record in rounds 2 and 3 of the Club F3 Championship at Rocking-ham in Northamptonshire at the weekend.
The 27-year-old was in inspired form at the only American style oval circuit in the UK. On Saturday, he qualified his Opel Dallara F397 on the first row of the grid, only losing out on pole by eighth-tenths of a second.
After opting for slick tyres just before the race, Kelly made a great start and, after three laps had opened up a nine-second advantage, which, by the end, had stretched to 56 seconds.
Kelly said: "It was a good race - the car felt like it was on rails.
"The dampness on the track helped keep the tyres cool for the first few laps, so I was able to push a bit harder and gain a substantial lead.
My engineer and myself made the decision to set the car up concentrating more on the infield of the circuit and this gave me a major advantage."
In the second race, Shane won again and he added: "I had never even seen this track until we arrived here on the Friday evening, so to get two wins is fantastic."
The next race is at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on May 29.
