IN every battle there are highs and lows.

However, Southampton teenager Daniel Ivory, who is registered blind and terminally-ill with a brain tumour, is determined to focus on the highs.

The brave 19-year-old has drawn up a wish-list of things he wants to do in the next few years before he is too ill to enjoy them. Top of the list is jumping from an aeroplane.

Today, Daniel, of Wimpson Lane, Millbrook, will get to fulfil this lifetime ambition when he takes part in a parachute jump organised by Hampshire Deaf Association.

Daniel has been invited to take part through his involvement with the health and care sensory services at Southampton City Council, which care for people with audio and visual impairment.

Daniel said: "I have never even been up in an aeroplane or anything but have always wanted to do this ever since I was a kid. I think I'll get a huge adrenaline rush from it and I'm not nervous at all."

Daniel and his girlfriend Natalia Blake, 20, have another exciting event ahead of them which will even eclipse a parachute jump.

This November Natalia is due to give birth to the couple's first child, which will be named Chelsea after Daniel's beloved football team if a girl, and Tyler if a boy.

Natalia said: "I think he's more nervous about becoming a dad than he is about jumping out of an aeroplane."
