CLEANING crews are gearing up to blitz the area of Mansbridge during the 15th crime Reduction and environment Week (CREW) starting today.
It will be a bumper week for activities, ranging from fun sports and community events to rubbish clearance and graffiti removal.
The stream running through Mansbridge will be cleared of rubbish, overgrown hedges will be chopped back, broken fences repaired, road signs replaced and public places spruced up as part of the week long drive to make the neighbourhood sparkle again.
Attention is being focused on the neighbourhood to combat antisocial behaviour and crime, and improve the environment across the neighbourhood.
Southampton City Council, Hampshire Police, Hampshire Fire Service and Swaythling Housing Association will work together during the big clean-up. Children from Mansbridge Primary School are also getting in on the act with sports activities and litter picks included on their timetable.
