THEY were making fundraising waves on one of the world's most famous rivers.

The Hamble River Raid was launched last year in a bid to keep the roof over the oldest Sea Scout group in the country and raise cash for other good causes.

Each team donated half its sponsorship money towards the £20,000 needed for a new roof on the Hamble Sea Scouts' headquarters.

Over the weekend there was an action replay as rowers in 18 boats took to the water for even more challenging course.

International yacht racing skipper Mike Golding got them under starter's orders and presented prizes at the end.

There were two races - a senior event for aged 16 and a junior race in slightly smaller boats.

A beer tent also acted as a showcase for local businesses keen to support the Hamble Sea Scouts plus their chosen charities.
