THE Mayor of Test Valley's Charity Golf Day took place at a very sunny Wellow Golf Club recently.
Valley Leisure ran the event, the charitable company that operates the Borough's Leisure Centres, and the lead sponsor was Ace Liftaway.
More than 70 generous golfers took part, each paying £50 for the privilege, some of the teams travelling from across the south to participate.
Additional funds were raised through a number of other sponsors contributing to the event by giving donations, raffle prizes or trophies.
Some £3,500 was raised for local charities chosen by the Mayor, Peter Boulton. These were: Test Valley Riding For The Disabled, the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, Dr. Peter Johnson Memorial Hall and diagnostic equipment for the Stockbridge and Andover surgeries.
Derek Jeffrey, Chief Executive of Valley Leisure, stated that he was really impressed by the generosity of all those who took part, both golfers and non-golfers, and hoped that the event continues to gain such widespread support in the years to come.
The winning team was 'Racers Revellers.' The winning lady was Rosemary Johnson Ferguson scoring 33 points and the winning man was Simon Elkins (42 points). The competition was a Stableford run on three quarter handicap
