THE Red Funnel car ferry between Southampton and East Cowes has resumed its normal timetable services following repairs.
The service had to be suspended early yesterday after a fault occurred on the vessel's shoreside boarding ramp at East Cowes.
Engineers worked throughout the morning to fix the problem while passengers were diverted to alternative ferry routes between Portsmouth and Fishbourne or Lymington and Yarmouth.
Services between Southampton and East Cowes resumed at noon. The Red Jet Hi-Speed service was unaffected.
In March Red Funnel's car ferry service was disrupted for three weeks after the Red Falcon crash into the dock at Southampton's Royal Pier following a crossing from East Cowes. Eight people were injured and the linkspan bridge was badly damaged.
While repairs were carried out the ferry service ran from a temporary berth in Southampton's Eastern Docks.
