George Burley is not expecting transfer activity at Saints for at least another month.

With the season having ended a fortnight ago and the club's retained list having been released, speculation as to who Saints might sign is already rife.

However, Burley doesn't believe there are likely to be additions to the Saints squad until the end of June.

He said: "At this time with the season just finished everything is fairly quiet.

"I can't see things moving very quickly before we come back for pre-season (on June 27).

"There are things going on but, as far as movement is concerned, it may take a while.

"A lot of managers and people connected with clubs are all away having a break.

"Things usually don't start moving until the end of June, and I can't see much movement here until then."

One player who has been linked with Saints who looks set to move this summer is Hearts midfielder Rudi Skacel.

The goalscoring Czech international has enjoyed a great first season in Edinburgh after Burley brought him in on loan from Marseille last summer.

Hearts recently took up the option to sign Skacel for a further two seasons now his Marseille contract has ended.

But Skacel, left, broke off from Hearts' Scottish Cup celebrations at the weekend to say he wanted to leave.

There have been persistent rumours in Scotland that he wants to link up with Burley again at St Mary's - even though that would mean swapping Champions League football for life in the Championship.

Burley told the Daily Echo last month that he would be interested in signing Skacel again, if he became available.

However, Hearts chairman Vladimir Romanov seems in no mood to let that happen easily.

He said: "If Rudi has the chance to go to a good club then we will give him that opportunity.

"But if he is just being twisted out of a good club to go to a mediocre club by his agent we won't let it happen."

Skacel netted Hearts' normal time goal in Saturday's Scottish Cup final victory against minnows Gretna, his 17th goal of the season but his first since late January.

He scored in each of the first seven Scottish League games of 2005/06 under Burley.
