PERFORMANCE and Tournament 1 player Stephanie Catlin was selected to represent Hampshire in the recent county cup in Edgbaston.
The 14-year-old Brighton Hill Community College student travelled to Birmingham in a team of six girls for the three-day event against Northumberland, Leicestershire and Cheshire. She won both her singles and her one doubles match.
Overall, Hampshire came third after beating Cheshire, but losing to Northumberland and Leicestershire.
In the under-12 county cup, Tournament 2 player Rachel Whiteside was also selected to represent the county.
She was seeded number two in the two-day event at the David Lloyd indoor centre in Southampton against teams from Surrey, the Channel Islands, Dorset, Sussex and Berkshire.
The team of six girls defeated Berkshire 4-0 but lost out to a strong team from Sussex in the group stage.
Hampshire finished second in their group and, in the play-offs, met Dorset, who had won their group.
Hampshire proved stronger and, with excellent play from Whiteside, they won the tie 4-1 to secure their place in the final.
Hampshire played well in the final and finished as runners-up after losing to a strong Sussex team.
