A BISHOPSTOKE pub is staging a fun day to raise money for the life saving Community Responders.

Previously known as The First Responders this is a dedicated group of volunteers who provide emergency treatment in the community.

Community Responders are dispatched by the ambulance communications centre to emergency incidents in their community.

They operate within small areas and so can often be at the patient's side in under five minutes providing both vital medical care and reassurance. Their intervention can literally mean the difference between life and death.

The fun day at The Welcome Inn is on Saturday June 3, starting at 10am with a fancy dress walk from the Fair Oak Road pub.

The route will take in a river walk up the Itchen to Allbrook and then back to Twyford Road and through Eastleigh Town Centre ending back at The Welcome.

From 2pm The Welcome Inn will be playing host to a whole range of attractions aimed at raising funds. Events include a BBQ, Rodeo Bull, face-painting, bouncy castle and stocks.

There will be prizes for best fancy dress and in the evening there will be karaoke.

Anyone who feels they can help in anyway should ring The Welcome on 023 8069 2701.
