Winchester sent several teams to the Hampshire Championships at Bournemouth on May Bank Holiday Monday.

The Ladies' 1st XI were beaten 6-1 by Southampton, who play in a league four divisions above them. Meanwhile, the 2nd XI were beaten 1-0 by Farnham.

The Men's 2nd XI lost a high scoring game 6-5 against Fareham, while the Colts Under 16s achieved a 3-2 win against their Havant counterparts. These four games concluded a very successful season for the club. Six teams won their league championships - the Men's lst Xl, 2nd XI, Wombats (youth and mature players), Hustlers (lst Vets), Wizards (2nd Vets) and U16 Colts. The Men's 4th Xl came 2nd in their league and won promotion, while the Women's 2nd Xl missed promotion by a whisker in their last game of the season; The U16 Colts won a national title and the Hants and IOW Youth Team of the Year award. What a season it's been for Winchester Boys, who won every Under-16 competition they played in. Already crowned EHA national indoor champions, they became the Hampshire Under-16 League and Cup winners as well. They avenged last year's Ashman Cup final defeat by Havant with a 3-2 victory at Chapel Gate, where Nick James, George Lambert and Will Barrett turned a 2-1 half-time deficit into victory.

Four teams reached the finals of the Hampshire Hockey Association championships.

On April 23 the club held its second annual mixed seven-a-side tournament, a day of attractive and fun hockey with over 80 players taking part.

Next season will be tough - but hopefully just as exciting!
