ANDOVER police are launching a major campaign to keep the lid on town centre disorder in the days leading up to the FIFA World Cup.
Some £10,000 of funding has been secured from the Home Office's Alcohol Misuse Enforcement Campaign for high visibility patrols in Andover and Eastleigh town centres between now and 8 June.
Uniform and plain clothes officers will be joined by their colleagues from the dog support unit and force support unit every weekend in the run-up to the tournament to ensure all licensed premises know their responsibilities and to let soccer fans know the police mean business.
