Retaining the England Hockey Harrod Trophy at East Grinstead tomorrow (2.30) could provide Trojans with their toughest test of the season, writes MIKE VIMPANY.

That's the view of skipper Craig Sommerville, whose side face a Banbury side who have just won promotion to South Premier League Division 2. "They are a formidable side," Sommerville said.

"They won 14 of the 16 games they played in the Regional League since Guy Fawkes Night and two weeks ago went on to win the Premier League play-offs, so they'll be brimming with confidence."

Banbury lifted the Harrod Trophy in 2004 - the year before Trojans' triumph against Slough - but Sommerville believes his Stoneham can retain the cup.

"We'll back ourselves because we are a good side and we're on a high after beating Havant in the Hampshire Cup final at Bournemouth," he said.

Trojans haven't played since May Day, concentrating instead on adapting to playing on East Grinstead's water-based surface.

"We've trained on the KES pitch at Wellington and used Havant's water based surface, so we'll be pretty well prepared."

Trojans are at full strength for the final, with penalty corner ace Wayne Shepherd eager to make up for missing last season's final victory.

"Wayne was on his way to Malaysia this time last year, so he can't wait to get out there," Sommerville said.

Trojans squad: Steve Cole, Wayne Shepherd, Simon Lucas, Craig Sommerville, Dave Kelly, Pete Wiles, John Jauncey, Richard Newnham, Duncan Stewart, Paul Hilton, Chris Wiseman, Sunny Bolina, Nav Rai, Colin French, Martin Gough, Will Sadler.
