LIB DEM candidate for Southampton Itchen David Goodall was born and educated in the city.

His first school was Glenfield Infants and he has lived on Townhill Farm, West End since 1997.

He has been married since 1989 to Kerstin and they have with two children who attend Bitterne Park Secondary School. As family they regularly attend Thornhill Baptist Church.

Mr Goodall left school at 16 and did an apprenticeship followed by a degree in electrical & electronic engineering. He is now a charter engineer working for Siemens as a senior consultant and senior project leader at their Roke Manor offices in Romsey.

He has served as parish councillor and since 2002 has been an Eastleigh councillor for West End Borough as well as a Southampton school governor.

He is currently vice-chair of the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (Push) scrutiny panel and the Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee (HEWEB LAC).

Mr Goodall's interests outside politics are DIY, genealogy, renewable energy and swimming.

Amongst other issues, he has campaigned against Post Office closures, against water fluoridation, for better roads and pavements, to reduce the effects of climate change, to axe council tax, for Gurkha justice, for better recycling, to scrap tuition fees, for cleaner streets, for fairer taxation and fairer votes
