THE FIRST World Championship event held at the Wiltshire circuit of Castle Combe during its 56 year history takes place next weekend the British round of the FIM World Sidecar Champ-ionship The 1.84-mile circuit is fast and sweeping with spectacular chicanes to provide challenging conditions and great racing thrills.

Reigning World Champions Tim and Tristan Reeves are intending to win on home ground after starting the season with a convincing win on their Eastern Airways Suzuki at the inaugural Steve Webster Trophy race at Donington.

The 1,000cc sidecar teams are a treat to watch without intending to be at all derogatory it's like watching ballet dancers performing graceful moves while prone at staggering speeds.

The action starts at 9am Saturday with two 30-minute practice sessions followed by a ten-lap sprint race that afternoon, then the 22-lap World Championship race on Sunday afternoon.

Sidecars are topping the bill, but the weekend has a full and varied race programme national riders will be competing in the two-part Superbike Grand National on Sunday as well as rounds of the Bracken KTM 660 Cup and Ducati Desmo Championship.

Saturday entrance is £8 and Sunday £20 but a weekend pass is available for £24. Children under 16 are admitted free, but must be accompanied. Call 01249 782417 for details.
