SUNDAY’S second round of the BSB Superbike Championship at Thrux-ton will be the local round for Bournemouth Kawa-saki Racing team, competing in the 600 and 1000 Superstock Champ-ionship.

James Hillier from Ringwood, pictured, will be riding the awesome Kawasaki ZX10R Superstock bike in a race that last year saw him finish fourth here.

The team is hoping for a similiar result this year but are fully aware that the championship has been invaded by some Superbike stars from last year. Steve Plater won the opening round at Brands Hatch and was chased by leading stars Glen Richards, Karl Harris, Tris Palmer, Richard Cooper and many established stars from BSB.

Luke Stapleford is the 600 Superstock rider for the team and Luke will be looking to make amends for a startline crash in 2009 which saw him end up with no points from Thruxton.

Luke had a good ride in round one at Brands Hatch, finishing a solid eighth for some good points. He is capable of running at the front of this race and team boss Pete Extance said: “We certainly feel a podium is not far away.”

He added: “Local support will be a massive help and we hope to see customers, sponsors and friends over the weekend and let’s pray for some Hampshire sunshine!”
