A STUDENT has been mugged after winning hundreds of pounds at a casino in Southampton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 20-year-old University of Southampton student was struck on the back of his head and robbed of £760 cash by two men.

The attackers approached the victim in Cambridge Road, near The Squirrels shop and asked if he had a cigarette.

When he retrieved a cigarette from his pocket his wallet fell out. As he bent over to pick it up he was hit on the head and fell over.

The robbers then made off with the black and silver Fossil wallet, which also contained an unclaimed Ladbrokes winning slip for £395 and his bank cards.

The robbers are described as white, one 5ft 6in and the other 6ft 2in and both had eastern European accents.

The short man wore a white hoodie and the taller robber had a black coat with a green trim, and a dark coloured rucksack.

Anyone with information about the attack at 10.45pm on Thursday, April 15, is asked to contact PC Gemma Frost at Portswood Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
