THE ELECTION is the hot topic among students at a Hampshire college and the main candidates will be trying to win their vote at a special hustings tomorrow.
Chris Huhne, Lib Dem MP and candidates Maria Hutchings, Conservative, Leo Barraclough, Labour, and Ray Finch, UKIP, will be grilled over their policies and find out what is important to the first time voters at Barton Peveril.
Coverage in the Daily Echo and televised political jousting has got the teens gripped. Principal Jonathan Prest, said: "The emergence of a three horse race for number 10 has grabbed the attention of students at Barton Peveril College.
"Students can be seen discussing the television debates in corners and for 800 students there is a real excitement at the prospect of voting for the first time.
"The four candidates for the Eastleigh seat are in the college for a hustings and students are arranging their own election standing as candidates, campaigning and voting on 29 April - in time for the results to be announced at the open evening."
The event will take place at 12.45pm in the Rose Theatre.
