POLICE cracking down on suspected football hooliganism have revealed a second wave of fans they want to question in the wake of the FA Cup south coast derby three months ago.

Officers have already arrested 25 people alleged to have been involved in clashes after the game as rival fans poured out of St Mary’s following Saints’ 4-1 defeat to Pompey.

Violence particularly broke out outside Freeborn Motors in Britannia Road, just a short walk from the stadium, when fans stormed the forecourt.

Taunts Penned in behind metal fencing, they allegedly hurled bricks, pieces of wood and even chairs over the barriers at away fans as they chanted and taunted them.

Around 260 police officers were on duty to manage fans before and after the game on February 13. Throughout the day 11 people were arrested and charged, predominantly with public order offences.

In March the Daily Echo revealed the faces of ten men police wanted to trace who were suspected of being part of trouble. Eight of those were arrested after being identified and also charged.

A further six people whose pictures were never released have also been dealt with by police, bringing a total of 25 people before the courts.

This week 13 of those are due before Southampton Crown Court for a further hearing after entering not guilty pleas in Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

Meanwhile, officers have continued to trawl through hours of footage to identify suspects.

Now they’ve released photographs of 11 more people in the hope they too can be traced.

Inspector Lisa Stevens said: “It is only a few of the 32,000 fans who went along that were involved, so for most they got to enjoy a great sporting event. However, we want to send a strong message to anyone who does get involved in football-related violence that it won’t be tolerated.

“It would be even better for those in the pictures, if they see themselves, to get in contact with us direct rather than waiting for us to come and find them. If they don’t they can be sure we will track them down and arrest them.”

Officers are working in conjunction with the Southampton FC and the Crown Prosecution Service who will apply for football banning orders against those involved.

Anyone with information should contact either Detective Constable Paul Longhurst or PC Andy Darbyshire from Southampton Operational Planning on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
