ACROBATIC teenagers are celebrating the completion of a new skatepark in a Hampshire village.
The £30,000 facility at Normandy Way, Marchwood, is expected to attract a large number of skateboarders, BMXers and rollerbladers.
Youngsters in the area helped to design the skatepark and to raise the necessary funds.
Deputy parish clerk Colette Cockeram said: “It’s wonderful to see so much commitment.
“To witness something develop from a drawing to this is fantastic.”
Funding was provided by Marchwood Parish Council, the Peter Barker-Mills Memorial Charity, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council, Hampshire Playing Fields Association and the Veolia Environmental Trust.
Margaret Cobbold, executive director of the trust, said: “It’s great to see this project being opened.
“What’s important about this project is that the young people who are going to use it got involved in the planning and fundraising.”
