THE LEADER of the opposition David Cameron paid a flying visit to Southampton University.
The Tory leader visited the Highfield Campus of the university for a brief tour of one of the marine tanks being used to carry out tests on sustainable energy.
He said: "This was the best half an hour I have had at university.
"I wish all my tutorials were as interesting as this."
During his brief visit Mr Cameron met the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton as well as other professors and was also given a demonstration by Southampton-based company C-wave on tank testing at one of the university's marine labs.
Giles Edward, chief executive of C-Wave, said: "It is extremely important that Mr Cameron is able to see what we do and people are paying lip service to the work that we do."
