A PEDESTRIAN was fighting for his life in hospital today after being hit by a tanker in Hampshire.
The 38-year-old is in a critical condition in the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital following the accident in Bishop's Waltham.
The accident happened at 2.47pm yesterday, when the man was struck by a lorry on the B2177 Winchester Road near its junction with Tangier Lane.
The lorry driver, a 60-year-old man from Southampton, was left shaken but uninjured.
A section of Winchester Road was closed for two hours to enable emergency services to help the injured man and investigate the accident.
