POLICE have named the Southampton woman killed in a head-on crash in the New Forest.

Mandy Evans, 38, of Kingsclere Avenue, died after her Renault flat-bed van was in collision with a Volkswagen Transporter on the A35 near Holmsley last Sunday.

Police say the accident happened after the Renault crossed the central white line.

Ms Evans was cut free by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and taken to Southampton General Hospital, where she died the following day.

Three passengers in the Renault were also injured. A ten-year-old boy suffered a head injury and a 40-year-old man and a seven-year-old boy both received cuts and bruises. They were all taken to hospital but have since been discharged.

The Volkswagen was being driven by a 44-year-old woman from Pennington.

Police say she suffered a series leg injury in the accident and is expected to remain in hospital for several days. Her passenger, a 43-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and has left hospital.

Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.
