A MAN has this morning appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife at their family home.
Sandor Lakatos is alleged to have stabbed his 37-year-old wife Maria Szarvak to death at their house in Harcourt Road, Bitterne.
The mum-of-one was found by police and paramedics around 11am on Wednesday, where she was initially unconscious but later died.
Lakatos, also 37, was arrested in the Milford on Sea area that afternoon and has since been held in custody where he was interviewed by detectives.
Maria, who came from Szolnok in Hungary, worked at Boots in Portswood Road, Southampton.
Lakatos appeared briefly before Southampton Magistrates Court this morning and was remanded in custody. He will appear at crown court on Tuesday.
