MEMBERS of the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) have praised the “flying start” made by the new chief executive.

Alison Barnes has already visited 11 of the 37 town and parish councils in the district, plus the privately owned estates at Beaulieu, Cadland and Exbury.

She told members: “I feel I’m building up a network of contacts. It’s time well spent.”

NPA chairman Julian Johnson said: “I can vouch for the new chief executive, who’s really getting out and about. It’s absolutely essential to our function.”

Cllr Barry Rickman, leader of New Forest District Council and a former deputy chairman of the NPA, told her: “Congratulations on a flying start.”

Cllr David Harrison said he hoped she would visit local authorities outside the National Park boundary, including Totton and Eling Town Council.

Ms Barnes told him: “You’re on the list”.
