NEIGHBOURS have now returned to their homes following a bomb scare on the Isle of Wight.
The evacuation of residents on Arctic Road, Cowes, occurred at 11.30am this morning after a member of the public reported at suspicious object at a home.
Experts from the Royal Navy bomb disposal team were called in but the item found - an imitation grenade - was judged not to be a danger to the public.
Residents that were evacuated to the Methodist Hall in Birmingham Road were allowed to return to their homes at 4pm and the road was re-opened shortly after.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is in police custody.
