A MAN arrested in connection with the discovery of an imitation hand grenade at an Isle of Wight home has been released with no further action.
The incident on Tuesday saw residents in Arctic Road, Cowes, evacuated and the road closed for five hours as bomb disposal experts from the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Department were called in.
They confirmed that the “suspicious object” was not a danger to the public.
The 52-year-old from Cowes was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and taken to Newport police station for questioning but has now been released.
