THREE pubs in the city have been fined by police for serving alcohol to children.
Officers carried out the operation in Winchester with help from three volunteers, aged just 15 and 16.
Ten premises were tested and three served alcohol to the under-age youngsters.
The guilty three were Greens Wine Bar and the Old Gaol House, both in Jewry Street, and the Guildhall Tavern in The Broadway.
They were served with an £80 fixed penalty notice and will be contacted again by police.
Inspector Kevin Baxman, of Winchester police, said: "While I am happy that 70 per cent of premises complied with the law, the 30 per cent that didn't are a disappointment.
"We will continue to conduct this type of operation throughout the summer to ensure compliance with the law.
