BRITISH Airways is axing 84 jobs and shutting its base of operations at Southampton International Airport, the Daily Echo can exclusively reveal.
The departure of the airport's second biggest carrier has shocked staff and the region's business community.
The company will still run services to Edinburgh and Manchester but will axe its "loss making" Glasgow route on October 27 this year, and all its Southampton-based air crew, cabin crew and engineers from October 29. Staff will be offered the opportunity to relocate to Manchester or Edinburgh.
