FOOTBALL is a global game as the World Cup proved triumphantly.
Now, youngsters living in Africa have got new football kits thanks to the generosity of Southampton schoolchildren and a city church.
Children from Wordsworth School in Shirley modelled the new kits which are destined for youngsters at a school in Bupadhengo a 700-pupil school in Uganda.
The kits have been donated by Shirley Parish Church in St James Road and the school which has a history of helping people in Africa.
Vicar of the church the Rev Neil Smart said: "We are taking the kits out in August. The local primary school has 700 children. Education is free for primary children but they have very few resources."
