IT IS an irony that speaks volumes about the nation's capital.
A crime surveyor from Winchester has been forced to quit his job in London after falling victim to crime himself three times in just nine months.
Chris Perry, pictured with his vandalised Rover car, has spent ten years working for the British Market Research Bureau's crime survey, gathering information for the government and conducting more than 15,000 interviews.
Now Mr Perry, of Kennels Lane in Oliver's Battery, says he is no longer willing to do the job after falling victim to car crime three times at a cost of more than £2,000.
Mr Perry said: "In great fear I retired to Winchester and wrote a very angry letter to the Home Secretary saying it was unreasonable to expect people to do research for the government, to boost its image, when in reality you are a victim of crime three times in a few months.
"I have been forced out by crime."
Mr Perry is now in negotiations with his employers over his future.
