YOUNG rockers are tuning up to perform at the "Rock Garden" mini-festival in Fareham next week.

Seven of the area's best up-and-coming bands will be entertaining the crowds at Neville Lovett School in an event organised by the local youth organisation Music Fusion and Hampshire Youth Service.

Containing a mixture of rock, punk, metal and pop music, most musical tastes will be catered for as the bands strive to create their own unique sounds.

The event is described as a "great opportunity for young bands to play on a big stage outdoors in front of an audience" by Richard Wright, the project manager of Music Fusion.

With few places for under-18s to play their music and experience the rush of performing to an audience, the festival was greeted enthusiastically by Music Fusion as well as the music-loving youngsters in the Fareham area.

Local acts such as The Promise Unknown, Symphony of Sound, Quixotica and Shirin will all be performing, as well as some others.

The event, free to under-18's, will take place at Gen II, Neville Lovett School, St Anne's Grove, Fareham from 2pm to 6pm on Wednesday August 2.
