THE Port of Southampton is open for business today, after the weather affected operations yesterday and over the weekend.
DP World, which runs the container port, said that despite extensive gritting there had been periods of time over the past few days when the wintry conditions made it unsafe for terminal staff to operate machinery.
A spokesman said: "All terminal operations resumed on Monday lunchtime and are continuing to operate today.
"We have also allocated extra resources to help facilitate additional deliveries and collections."
