FOUR men have been jailed for a total of five years over the death of a Polish man in Southampton.

The men were sent to prison for between six and 20 months after Wieslaw Filus, 45, was found in a bedsit in Denzil Avenue in July 2009.

Manslaughter charges against Boguslaw Chmiel, 40, and Krzysztof Szalus, 27, were dropped but they admitted actual bodily harm.

Manslaughter and actual bodily harm charges against Marcin Zonca, 29, were dropped but he and Waldemar Misiak, 50, admitted perverting the course of justice.

Mr Filus had been assaulted and died from a brain haemorrhage.

At Winchester Crown Court today, Chmiel, of Bevois Valley Road, and Szalus, of Mount Pleasant Road, also admitted perverting the course of justice and were both jailed for 20 months.

Zonca, of Denzil Avenue, was jailed for 14 months, and Misiak, of Denzil Avenue, was jailed for six months.
