Southampton health chiefs are urging parents to get their youngsters immunised.
As part of European Immunisation Week, NHS Southampton City is encouraging people to ensure they get their children immunised with the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.
Although Southampton has a good rate of immunisation compared to other parts of the country, there is room for improvement.
Dr Graham Watkinson, public health consultant for NHS Southampton City said: “European Immunisation Week is a fantastic opportunity to highlight how fortunate the UK is to have a good immunisation programme.”
Dr Watkinson added: Anyone who is not immunised or has children under the age of five who aren’t immunised should take action to ensure they, their family and their community are protected from the effects of these very serious diseases.”
