A FRIGHTENED pensioner was woken up in the middle of the night during a break-in at her home.
The 89-year-old first heard banging on the front and back doors of her house in Dodds Lane, Swanmore, before the intruder came upstairs and knocked on her bedroom door.
The would-be thief rifled through cabinets in the living room then left the building having not come into contact with the terrified pensioner. Nothing was stolen.
PC Richard Jones said that the front door had been forced open to gain entry.
βIt was obviously a very disturbing incident for the elderly victim and we are keen to trace the person responsible,β he added.
Anyone with information about the break in, on May 2 at 11pm, should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
