FRIENDS of an injured Southampton stuntman are rallying around with a charity football match today.
Top non-league players from across Hampshire will be gathering at the AFC Totton ground to help raise money for Jay Young, pictured. He has been told he may never walk again after breaking his neck rehearsing for a show at Legoland.
Jay, 22, from Southampton, landed on his head after his partner slipped as they attempted a dangerous backflip routine. He has been left paralysed from the neck down and is currently in Southampton General Hospital.
The ‘Pray for Jay’ fundraiser will be at Testwood Park between an AFC Totton XI and a Brockenhurst XI, both former clubs of Jay.
Kick-off is at 1pm and entrance costs £5.
Both squads add up to some 40 players who know Jay, including Football League players Jordan Rose, of Stockport County, and Ollie Lancashire, formerly of Saints and now of Walsall. Ollie was due to play but picked up an injury in a recent match against Southampton.
Local players from Sholing, Brockenhurst, AFC Totton, Winchester City, Bashley, ASSC Hamble, Lymington Town and Romsey are also expected.
