THE trial of a man accused of murdering his wife at their family home in Southampton is due to begin today.
Sandor Lakatos is alleged to have stabbed 37-year-old Maria Szarvak to death at their house in Harcourt Road, Bitterne.
She was found by police and paramedics last July, initially unconscious but despite attempts to resuscitate her she later died.
A major police hunt got under way resulting in Lakatos, also 37, being arrested in the Milford on Sea area that afternoon.
Lakatos is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court this morning.
Maria, who came from Szolnok in Hungary, worked at Boots in Portswood Road, Southampton.
