A YOUNG dad has been ordered to pay £355 after drunkenly trying to smash his way into his girlfriend’s house.

Jack O’Connor had been drinking with friends all afternoon and evening before he turned up at Kirsty Martin’s home in Wimpson Lane, Southampton.

Despite her having told the 24-yearold earlier in the evening that she didn’t want to see him, O’Connor turned up at 11.45pm on July 7, banging loudly on the door and shouting.

Fearing he would wake their sleeping 20-month-old daughter, she told him to leave and ensured the front door was double locked with the chain also pulled across.

Around 2.30am O’Connor returned, again shouting abuse towards his partner, and pounding the door so hard it was left buckled.

Miss Martin called police, but O’Connor continued his abuse after officers arrived and was arrested.

At Southampton Magistrates’ Court, O’Connor, of Quantock Road, Millbrook, Southampton, admitted using threatening or abusive language or behaviour and causing criminal damage.

The self-employed painter and decorator said: “I’m very sorry and I shouldn’t have done it. It was just a drunken mistake.”

O’Connor was fined a total of £180 and ordered to pay £85 costs, £75 compensation to his girlfriend for the door, and a £15 victim surcharge.
